Neohelp™ is a sterile, polyethylene Occlusive suit designed to prevent hypothermia in newborns, particularly those who are premature or have low birth weight. By addressing heat loss through evaporation, convection, conduction, and radiation, Neohelp™ helps maintain the infant's body temperature immediately after birth.
Key Features and Uses:
Adjustable Hood: Limits heat loss from the head, which is a significant source of heat dissipation in newborns.
Double-Layered Polyethylene: Creates a greenhouse effect, protecting the infant from drafts and reducing heat loss through radiation and evaporation.
Pre-Formed Foam Cushion: Supports the infant's position, helps maintain an open airway, and minimizes heat loss through conduction.
Central Opening with Velcro Closure: Allows easy access for medical interventions, including the placement of monitoring equipment and umbilical catheters, while ensuring heat conservation.
Instructions for Use:
Preparation: Warm the Neohelp™ pack under a radiant heater while awaiting the infant's birth.
Unfolding: Open the sterile package and unfold the Neohelp™ suit.
Placement: Open the Velcro closure and hood, then place the newborn inside with shoulders aligned at the upper edge of the foam cushion.
Securing: Fasten the Velcro closure and adjust the hood around the infant's head by squeezing the toggle to ensure a snug fit.
Monitoring: Regularly check the infant's temperature and adjust external heating sources as needed to maintain normothermia.
Neohelp™ is typically used during the initial hours after birth, especially during the critical thermoregulation phase known as the "Golden Hour." Its transparent material allows caregivers to observe the infant's skin color and breathing movements without removing the suit.
For detailed guidelines and clinical protocols, always refer to the manufacturer's instructions and consult with neonatal care specialists.
